Photo Album: Water Entering Basement from Window, Manchester, NH
A homeowner in Manchester, New Hampshire has lived in their home for almost 40 years. Over the past few months, they noticed water entering their basement from the egress windows and floors. They contacted Erickson Foundation Solutions for a free basement inspection. Our Design Specialist Josh Bartholomew met with the homeowners and examined the basement to find a solution. Josh recommended installing a perimeter drainage system with CleanSpace, SaniDry Sedona, Sunhouse Enclosure, and WellDuct Drain into the basement to protect it from water entering the basement.
Our installation team, led by Ryan Champagne, began by chipping out the perimeter of the basement so that we could install our drainage and sump pump. We then removed debris and dirt so that our WaterGuard, TrenchDrain, and TripleSafe basin could sit flush with the floor. We installed our three pumps into the basin and plumbed them outside, so we could install our 2 IceGuards and Exterior Drainage Line. Next, the team moved on to installing the WaterGuard and TrenchDrain around the perimeter of the basement. We used the WaterGuard to go along the wall, and the TrenchDrain to move around obstacles like washers, dryers, water heaters, and oil tanks. With the perimeter drainage in place, the team then installed 92 feet of CleanSpace Wall on the foundation wall above the perimeter drainage. The vapor barrier attaches to the top of the wall and down to the flange of the drainage. After the white barrier was installed, we then began to address the egress windows.
To start, we drilled a hole from the inside of the basement through the foundation wall right under the egress window so we could begin to attach our WellDuct Window Drain. After drilling the hole, we began to excavate around the egress window so we could install our SunHouse enclosure and the WellDuct Drain. We installed the clear plastic housing around the window and installed our drain. The drain extended through the foundation wall and down into the perimeter drainage system. Next, our team mixed up concrete so we could pour it over our perimeter drainage and around our TripleSafe Basin to lock everything in place. Lastly, while the concrete cured, the team installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.
The team cleaned up and then took the homeowner on a walkthrough of the project. They showed them each of the products we installed and answered any questions they had.
