Photo Album: Cracked Block Foundation Wall, Deerfield, NH
This homeowner in Deerfield, New Hampshire has owned their 18th century home for the past 50 years. Over the last 20 years, they have seen a section of their block foundation being to crack and bow. They have been planning on doing some remodels in the part of the home right above but don't want to cause further damage to the foundation. The homeowners decided to call Erickson Foundation Solutions to inspect the foundation of their home to see if there was anything they could do to stabilize it before they began their remodel.
Our Design Specialist Anthony Brancato met with the homeowners and examined the foundation where the concern was. The block foundation wall had many blocks that were separating from their neighboring blocks. Anthony determined that the wall should be replaced instead of repaired because of the amount of cracks that were found in the wall. He recommended replacing the old block foundation with a new 12-foot Masonry Foundation Wall.
Our installation team led by Nick Carelli, began by installing temporary support around the foundation wall so we could remove the old damaged one. We then removed the foundation wall and began setting up the new wall. First, we poured a new foundation footing so we could have a flat space to begin building the foundation wall. After the footing was cured the team then laid bricks one at a time until we reached the floor joists. With the wall completed the team was able to remove the temporary supports and allow the home to rest on the foundation wall.
After the team cleaned up the job site we showed the homeowner the new foundation wall and they were very impressed with the installation.
