Photo Album: Random Seepage in Basement, Andover, MA
A homeowner in Andover, Massachusetts, has lived in their home for over 20 years. They have always noticed random seepage in their finished and unfinished areas of the basement. The water has caused damage to floors, finished walls, and other items. The homeowners are tired of dealing with the water so they reached out to EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist Tom Armano met with the homeowners to discuss their concerns in their basement and then look down there to find them a permanent solution. Tom looked at the finished and unfinished sections of the basement to make sure he proposed the best solution. Tom recommended installing 130 feet of WaterGuard, 4 feet of TrenchDrain WaterGuard, a TripleSafe, 2 IceGuards, 25-foot Exterior Drainage Line, SaniDry Sedona, and Elite Plank into the basement to protect the basement from water and to install new flooring that allows moisture to flow beneath it.
Our installation team led by Gunther Billhardt, began by chipping out concrete along the perimeter of the basement so we could install our perimeter drainage and our sump pump. After the concrete was chipped out we removed some soil so the drainage and sump pump could lay flush with the concrete slab. The drainage will collect water from any point around and guide it to the sump pump where it will be pumped out. On the exterior of the home, we installed two IceGuard and 25 feet of Exterior Drainage Line to carry water away from the foundation of the home. Next, the team mixed concrete and poured it over the perimeter drainage and around the sump pump basin to lock the system into place. After the concrete cured the team then installed the new Elite Plank Flooring. The flooring will snap together without the use of nails so we can install it right over the concrete slab.
After the project was complete our team walked the homeowners through everything we installed. The homeowners were very happy with the results of the project and don't have to worry about water entering the basement anymore.
