Photo Album: Foundation Wall Stabilization, Bedford, NH
A home in Bedford, New Hampshire was placed on the market by the seller. A prospective buyer came in and put in an offer on the home pending a home inspection. The home inspector came in and performed a full inspection and report of the home. The report indicated that the foundation wall had some cracks that were concerning. The potential buyer recoiled and wanted to know more about issues with the foundation. To gain knowledge about the wall and some potential solutions the buyer and seller agreed to call EFS for a free inspection of the foundation of the home.
Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the two parties and looked at the foundation of the home. Jason noticed the block foundation was bowing slightly and his recommendation was to install Geolocks on the foundation wall and have the other end installed in the yard to stabilize and straighten the foundation wall. The buyer and seller received the quote and worked out a deal between themselves for EFS to install our solution.
Our installation team began by marking where each of the 6 Geolocks would be installed on the bowing foundation wall. After the wall was marked our team started digging a trench 10 feet away from the foundation wall. This will allow us to the soil in between the foundation wall and the trench as leverage to stabilize and straighten the foundation wall. We then sent a galvanized rod through the foundation wall and into the trench. We attached a Geolock plate to either side of the rod and then began to tighten bolts on either side of the threaded rod to start straightening the foundation wall. Once straightened the team then backfilled the trench and tamped down the soil.
The buyer and seller were very impressed with the result of the project.
