Photo Album: Finished Basement Ruined By Water, Manchester, NH
A homeowner in Manchester, New Hampshire, has lived in their home for the past decade. They have a finished basement that they use as a second living room. Years ago the basement had water seep into the finished portion and destroy everything in its path. At that point, the homeowners had a sump pump installed so water would be collected by the sump pump and removed from the basement. This past year they had a big rainstorm that allowed water to enter the basement and soak the carpet. Fearing that their finished room in the basement could be ruined again the homeowners called EFS for a free inspection of the basement to find a solution that would prevent any water from entering the basement. Our Design Specialist Bryan Barnard met with the homeowner and looked at the home. During his detailed inspection, he found that the water originates on one side of the basement. Bryan recommended replacing the existing sump pump with our TripleSafe which is bigger, better, and works if the power is out. Connected to the new sump will be 24 feet of WaterGuard to collect any water along the floors and walls of the finished basement.
Our installation team installed the sump pump and the perimeter drainage into the basement and then plumbed the sump pump to the exterior of the home where we installed our exterior drainage system. The system included two IceGuards, which will prevent the system from backing up into the basement, and an EDL which will carry water away from the foundation. The system was then concealed with concrete to eliminate any tripping hazard and prevent damage to the system.
The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project.
