A home in Tilton, New Hampshire, was built in the 1960s and the block foundation was starting to show signs of movement. One day the homeowner noticed that the wall on the left side of their garage didn't look normal. On closer inspection, the wall was bowing and the homeowner called EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowners and looked at the foundation wall to find potential solutions. After Jason's inspection, he recommended installing 4 Geolocks along the foundation wall.
Our installation team led by Eric Witham began by marking where each of the Geolocks will be located on the foundation wall. After the location was determined we went outside and marked 10 feet from the foundation wall to begin digging our trench for our plates. The team used our excavator to make the trench that was the length of the wall. Next, the team returned to the home so we could drive a hole for our rod to be sent from the foundation wall to the trench through the soil. The team sent the 4 rods so they were poking through the foundation wall and in the trench. Next, we installed our Channel Anchor on the foundation and our Geolock Plate inside the trench and then began to tighten the end so we could straighten the wall slowly. After the wall was straightened the team then backfilled dirt over the trench and tamped down the soil.
The homeowners were very happy with the results of the project. Their foundation wall is now straight and they don't have to worry about it bowing anymore.
