Photo Album: Smelly Crawlspace Odor Seeping into Home, Swampscott, MA
A year ago, a homeowner in Swampscott, Massachusetts noticed that their bathroom fan was causing a bad smell to enter their home from the crawlspace. They contacted EFS for a free inspection of their crawlspace. Our Design Specialist, Mark Proctor, met with the homeowner and examined the crawlspace. After careful evaluation, Mark suggested installing CleanSpace Encapsulation and a SaniDry Sedona in the crawlspace to prevent the odor from entering the home and collecting below it.
Our Installation Team started by cleaning out any debris from the crawlspace, and then they installed a vapor barrier using CleanSpace on the floors and walls. After the encapsulation was complete, we installed the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to control the humidity and help eliminate the odor from the crawlspace. With the crawlspace now encapsulated, the SaniDry Sedona prevents any bad odors from outside the home from penetrating the crawlspace. This will ensure that the bathroom fan does not suction up bad odors and circulate them in the main level of the home. The homeowners were extremely satisfied with the results of the project.
