A Concord, New Hampshire homeowner had been living in their house for 35 years, and wanted to start using the additional space in their basement. However, they had concerns regarding the dampness in the basement. To address this issue, they contacted EFS to schedule a free inspection and find a solution to reduce the dampness inside the basement.
Our Design Specialist, John Prince, met with the homeowner, discussed their concerns, and inspected the basement to find a solution. John examined everything from top to bottom to determine the best solution for the homeowner. After the inspection, John proposed a full perimeter drainage system equipped with TripleSafe sump pump and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The entire system consisted of 102 feet of WaterGuard, 8 feet of Trench Drain WaterGuard, a TripleSafe, 2 IceGuards with an exterior drainage line, and a SaniDry Sedona.
Our Installation Team, led by Anthony LoCascio, began by removing everything against the foundation wall. Then they jackhammered out a small trench around the entire perimeter of the basement. Once the concrete was chipped, they removed all of the debris and started installing the perimeter drainage and sump pump into the basement. Since this system was installed sub-slab, it didn't take up any room in the basement, and it could collect and pump out any water that was collected. The team installed WaterGuard around the entire perimeter and TrenchDrain around the oil tank. After the drainage and the sump pump were installed, the team then plumbed the sump to the exterior of the home. On the outside of the home, the team installed our IceGuards on the plumbing. After securing the IceGuards, the team installed our exterior drainage line and buried it in the yard. The drainage line will carry the water that is pumped out of the basement away from the foundation so it cannot re-enter the basement. Next, the team mixed up concrete to lock in the Trench Lock and TripleSafe and then covered the WaterGuard. Lastly, the team installed our SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier, which helped immensely to address the dampness inside the basement. The homeowner could set the dehumidifier at the setting of their preference to control the humidity.
The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project. The dampness and moisture were no longer an issue, and the homeowner could spend a lot more time down in the basement.
