Photo Album: Stabilize Main Beam in 1900s Home, Concord, NH
A homeowner in Concord, New Hampshire, purchased this 1900s home in 2016 and has been upgrading parts of the home throughout the years. This year they wanted to address the beams and supports in the basement. They called EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowners and then inspected the beams and supports in the basement. After his inspection, Jason discussed his findings with the homeowners. He recommended installing 3 SmartJacks and a 16-foot supplemental beam to stabilize the floor system in the basement.
Our installation team led by Eric Witham began by chipping out 3 concrete footings into the basement slab. After the footings were chipped the team then poured in crushed stone and then our big plate footings. Next, the team cut the SmartJacks to size and secured them to our footings and supplemental beam. Once secured the team then made sure everything was level. After everything was in place the team then mixed up concrete and poured it over the footings to lock them into place.

The team chipped out concrete in the basement so we could install our big plate footings.

The team poured crushed stone into the footings before placing our big footings into the holes.

After the SJs were installed and everything was leveled we mixed concrete and poured it over the footings to lock everything into place.
