Photo Album: Water Entering Basement of 1920s Home, Somerville, MA
A family home in Somerville, Massachusetts, has owned the home for over 20 years. The home is under the management of the children now and they plan to use the home as a family home and a rental property when they aren't using it. As far as they could remember they had seen water in the basement. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist Keith Soper met with the homeowner and then inspected the basement to find a solution. After his inspection, Keith recommended installing a perimeter drainage system into the basement to prevent water from entering the basement anymore.
Our Installation Team led by Anthony LoCascio began by chipping out 140' of concrete around the perimeter of the basement to create a trench for us to install our perimeter drainage and sump pump. After the WaterGuard and SuperSump were installed the team then plumbed the sump to the exterior of the home. Once on the exterior, the team installed our IceGuard and Exterior Drainage Line to carry water away from the foundation. After the EDL and IceGuard were installed the team returned back into the basement to mix up concrete and pour it over the perimeter drainage and around the basin of the sump pump to lock everything into place.
