Photo Album: New Home Has Radon Concerns, Conway, NH
A homeowner in Conway, New Hampshire had just finished building their home in May 2023. When the inspector looked at their home before they fully moved in the inspector found radon levels that averaged 21.3 pCi/L. The homeowners fully moved into their home and then reached out to EFS for us to install a radon system into their home. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowner and designed a radon system for their home. Jason recommended a system that has an additional extraction point so more radon could be collected by the system.
Our Installation Team led by Steve Dumais began by creating two extraction points in the slab of the basement. The extraction points were separated about 30 feet apart. PVC pipe was used to connect the extraction points. Then the PVC pipe was sent through the wall to the exterior of the home where we installed the radon fan onto the side of the home. The PVC pipe was connected to a radon fan and the system was then vented above the roofline of the home to prevent radon air from re-entering the home after it leaves the system.
After the system had been running for over a week the homeowner retested the home for radon and the results showed levels below 4.0 pCi/L.
