Photo Album: Concerns About Wall Failure in 100+ Year Old Home, Groton, MA
A homeowner in Groton, Massachusetts, purchased their home two years ago and was concerned about one of their foundation walls failing. The home they purchased is over 100 years old so they are worried the old foundation has lost its integrity. They called EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist John Prince met with the homeowners and inspected the foundation of the home. After a complete inspection of the interior and exterior of the foundation John returned to the homeowners and recommended removing a 10ft section of the foundation wall and for us to install a new masonry block wall in its place.
Our Installation team led by Nick Carelli, began by exposing the foundation wall and setting up temporary posts. After, the team removed the foundation wall so we could start installing the new masonry wall. The first step to installing the new masonry wall was to pour a concrete footing that the foundation wall would rest on. The footing extends the entire 10' gap and will support our mason blocks to create a new and solid foundation wall.
