Photo Album: Sloped Floors in 1850s Home, Amesbury, MA
A homeowner in Amesbury, Massachusetts, has lived in their home for the past 30 years. The home was built in the 1850s and they have noticed the floors of the sloping since they have lived in the home. The homeowners plan to install new flooring on the first floor and wanted to eliminate the sloping of the floors before installing new floors. They reached out to EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Jared Pavluvcik met with the homeowners and inspected the floor system and basement of the home. During his inspection, Jared was able to find where the floor was sloping the most and recommended installing SmartJacks to eliminate the sloping of the floors.
Our Installation Team led by Eric Whitham began by marking where the 9 SmartJack were going to be installed. After planning out where each of the supports will be placed the team began to chip out concrete so we could install our big footings under the basement slab. The team installed the footing under the slab and made sure they were level before installing the SmartJack to the main beam. Once secured to the main beam, our team lifted and leveled the floor system to eliminate any sloping in the floors. The team double-checked their work by using laser and traditional levels to ensure the floors were level. After everything was confirmed to be leveled, we then mixed up concrete and poured it over each footing to lock them into place.
The homeowners were very pleased with the results of the project. They can now install the new flooring on the first level of their home.

Installing SmartJacks
The team created a footing and installed our big footing before securing our SmartJacks to a supplemental beam or to the main beam.
SmartJacks Installed and Concreted
The team installed a total of 9 SmartJacks into the basement so we could eliminate the sloping of their floors.
