Photo Album: Crack in Foundation Wall in Basement, Auburn, NH
This homeowner is the original owner of a home built in 2005. A couple of months ago they noticed a crack begin to form on the wall in the basement. They have become worried about the crack getting larger and either letting water in or causing the wall to cave in... or both. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowner and inspected the crack in the basement as well as the rest of the basement. After his inspection was complete Jason recommended installing Geolocks into the basement to stabilize the foundation wall and installing FlexiSpan to seal the crack.
Our Installation Team led by Eric Witham began by creating a trench in the yard 10' away from the foundation wall where the crack was found. Once the trench was about 6' deep the team returned to the basement and measured where they would install the 3 Geolocks. We separated the Geolocks by 3-4 feet to capture and stabilize the entire wall. We sent galvanized steel from inside the basement through the foundation wall and the ground to the trench in the yard. Once all three rods were in the trench the team then used galvanized plates on both sides of the rod and tightened them until they were tight. After the rods were tightened we backfilled the trench and installed the FlexiSpan over the crack.
