Photo Album: Fixing Foundation Concerns Before Selling the Home, Stratham, NH

This homeowner in Stratham, New Hampshire, has lived in the home since 2000 and were looking to start fixing the home and making improvement in order to sell in the next couple of years. The first item on their repair list was to repair a crack in the foundation wall. The homeowner called EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowner and thoroughly examined the basement. During his inspection, Jason had seen the crack on the foundation wall but when we were examining the crack he noticed the wall was bowing inward. He brought this to the attention of the homeowner and recommended sealing the crack in the foundation with FlexiSpan and then installing 5 PowerBraces against the foundation wall to stabilize and straighten the wall over time.  Our Installation Team led by Edward N. began by measuring the wall and determining where each of the 5 PowerBraces will be placed. Once the location of each PowerBrace was determined, the team then began to install our L Brackets on the floor in front of the wall. After those were installed the team then installed the galvanized steel beam against the wall and started to install the top bracket into the floor system above. Depending on the direction of the floor joist will determine which top brack we can use. Since the floor system was running perpendicular to the foundation wall we used our top brack that can run between the floor joists. Once the brackets were installed the team then tightened the PowerBrace to start the wall straightening procedure. Although the wall could take a while to straighten the PowerBraces will continue to stabilize the walls throughout the entire process and beyond.
