Photo Album: Base of Lally Column Was Corroding, Northfield, NH
A homeowner in Northfield, New Hampshire, had lally columns in their basement that had corroded at the bottom. The homeowners were worried that the lally columns could fail leaving the home unsupported. The owner of the home decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowner and looked at their concerns. Jason recommended installing 2 SmartJacks into the basement to replace the two corroded lally columns. Since our SmartJacks are galvanized they will not corrode or rust.
Our Installation Team led by Nick Carelli began by removing the corroded lally columns from the basement. After the old supports were removed, the team then chipped out a small section of concrete and installed our footing beneath the concrete slab. After the footing was set the team then installed our SmartJacks and attached it to the floor system above by using our adjustable bracket. After the SmartJacks were installed the team then used the adjustable top to lift up and support the floor system. Next, the team mixed up concrete and poured it over the footings of the SmartJacks to lock them into place and eliminate any tripping hazards.
The homeowner was very pleased with the result of the project and don't have to worry about the SmartJacks corroding or rusting.
