Photo Album: Crack in Garage Foundation Getting Bigger, Lee, NH
A homeowner in Lee, New Hampshire recently discovered a crack in their detached garage's foundation. Having lived in the home for 18 years, they decided to seek assistance and contacted EFS for a free inspection. After Design Specialist Victor Tapia evaluated the exterior and interior of the garage, he concluded that the crack was caused by the foundation bowing outward. Victor recommended the installation of 6 Geolocks along the foundation wall exterior and anchoring them in the soil under the garage slab.
The Installation Team, led by Neal Foley, began the project by drilling 6 evenly spaced holes in the foundation wall and chipping out a parallel trench within the garage, approximately 10 feet from the bowing foundation wall. Galvanized rods were then inserted through the holes in the foundation, into the soil below the slab, and into the garage trench. The team then installed a Geolock Anchor to each end of the rod and tightened the plates to stabilize and straighten the foundation wall. Once all the Geolocks were in place, the team backfilled the garage trench and concealed the Geolocks with new concrete. The homeowner was very satisfied with the project's results.
