Photo Album: Foundation Issue Found by Window Installer, Dover, NH

A homeowner in Dover, New Hampshire recently sought a quote for new windows on their late 1800s home. However, the window specialist discovered that all of the windows were no longer square and recommended getting their foundation checked. To address the homeowner's concerns, they reached out to EFS for a free home inspection. Our Design Specialist, Jason Vachon, inspected the house for signs of foundation issues and discovered that the walls were bowing up to 5 inches. To stabilize the foundation, Jason recommended installing an auxiliary wall and a masonry block wall. He also noticed some instability in the floors and water markings in the basement and recommended installing SmartJacks and a perimeter drainage system. Our Installation Team, led by Nick Carelli, installed an Auxiliary wall to address the foundation wall. They installed Powerbraces against the wall and filled them with concrete after setting up rebar and forms. While waiting for the concrete to cure, the team installed 2 SmartJacks with a 10' supplemental beam to support the floor system. They also installed WaterGuard, SuperSump, IceGuard, and SaniDry Sedona to prevent moisture from entering the basement. The team chipped out concrete along the perimeter of the basement to install WaterGuard and SuperSump. The water was pumped outside the home through an exterior drainage line, and a SaniDry Sedona was installed and fed into the SuperSump basin. After installing everything, the team set up temporary supports to remove a section of the foundation wall and poured a new concrete footing for the masonry block wall. The masonry blocks were installed to the bottom of the floor system, ensuring that the homeowner won't have to worry about foundation issues in their home. The homeowners were happy with the project's results.
