Photo Album: Push Piers Installed in Condominium, Brighton, MA
A Condo Association manager in Brighton, Massachusetts has encountered numerous foundation issues within the condos that need to be resolved. Over the past year, we have addressed similar foundation issues by fixing a few foundations in the condo association. The condos in question have foundations that are sinking, and to rectify the problem, EFS was contacted to repair the sinking foundations. Our Design Specialist, Isaac Hernandez, met with the condo association's manager and visited each condo that had foundation concerns. Isaac meticulously inspected each of the condos and recommended a unique solution for each. For a specific condo, Isaac suggested installing 5 Piers, 7 Helical Piers, slab demo, and basement slab pour.
To carry out the plan, our Installation Team, led by Ed N., began by chipping out the slab in the basement. The team used jackhammers to break up chunks of concrete, which they then removed from the basement. After chipping out the slab, the team exposed the foundation footing. Next, they attached the brackets of our Push Piers to the footing, and once the brackets were secured, the team started to install the Push Piers by using a hydraulic press to push 3' sections of galvanized steel beneath the home. The team continued to press until they found sufficient pressure to support the foundation. Once enough pressure was achieved, the team capped each pier to hold them in place. After completing the placement of the Push Piers, the team then installed the Helical Piers by using a hydraulic drive head. The team drove the Helical Piers down under the foundation until they reached sufficient pressure. Like the Push Piers, after sufficient pressure was achieved, the team then capped each helical pier. After securing all of the piers, the team backfilled over them and then called in the concrete truck to deliver the concrete needed to pour the new slab into the basement. The team poured and smoothed the concrete throughout the entire basement and then waited for the concrete to cure.
The owner of the condo and the association manager was ecstatic with the results of the project.
