Photo Album: Making Basement Permanently Dry Before Selling Home, Center Harbor, NH

A homeowner in Center Harbor, New Hampshire recently inherited a house from her father, who had lived in it for over a decade. She needed to sell the property, as she currently resides in Rhode Island. However, during a routine inspection of the house, she noticed water entering the basement through a crack in the foundation. To ensure that the basement would remain dry for the next homeowner, she contacted EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist, Jason Vachon, met with the homeowner and inspected the basement to find a solution. After the inspection, Jason recommended installing WaterGuard to the back wall of the foundation, a SuperSump, an IceGuard, an Exterior Drainage Line, FlexiSpan, and a Crack Monitor to prevent water from entering the basement.  Our Installation Team, led by Branden Edwards, began by chipping out a trench along the back foundation wall of the home. The team created a trench that was 6 inches wide and 24 feet long. Additionally, they chipped out a basin for the sump pump. After the concrete was chipped out, the team sealed the foundation crack with FlexiSpan. They also installed the sump pump in the lowest corner of the basement and connected the system to the exterior of the home. Then, they installed an IceGuard and a 10-foot Exterior Drainage Line to carry the water being pumped out of the basement away from the home. After the perimeter drainage was integrated into the trench, the team mixed up concrete and poured it over the WaterGuard and around the SuperSump to lock them in place.  The homeowner was pleased with the outcome of the project and no longer had to worry about water entering through the foundation crack. Now, the homeowner can sell the home with confidence.
