Photo Album: Bowing Foundation Wall, New London, NH
A New London, New Hampshire homeowner planned on adding more usable space in their home by finishing their basement this year. However, upon inspection of their basement, they noticed stair-step cracks on their foundation wall. Wanting to address the issue, they contacted EFS for a free inspection. Victor Tapia, our Design Specialist, went through the homeowner's home and suggested installing 4 Geolock to the foundation wall to fix the bowing wall.
Our Installation Team, led by Edward N., began by exposing the foundation wall to install waterproofing on the outside before digging a trench 10' away from the foundation wall. The trench was meant to hold one end of the Geolock Anchor System. To reach the trench, the team drilled a small hole in the foundation wall and sent a rod through it into the soil. Once at the trench, the team installed a Geolock Plate on both sides of the rod and tightened the plates to straighten and support the wall. After straightening the wall, they filled the trench in the yard and next to the foundation wall.
The homeowners were thrilled to see their foundation wall straightened, making their home safer and more comfortable. This will allow them to start the process of finishing their basement.
