Photo Album: Lower Radon Levels Because of Medical Issues, Pepperell, MA
A homeowner in Pepperell, Massachusetts, has lived in their home for the past 26 years and a new medical concern has made them worried about the radon levels in their home. The homeowner also has their son and grandson moving into their home soon and wants to address the radon concerns in their home before then. They called EFS to perform a radon test in their home. The results of the test averaged around 9 pCi/L. Our Design Specialist Jared Pavluvcik met with the homeowner to discuss their test results. Jared designed a radon mitigation system with two extraction points to collect the maximum amount of radon possible.
Our Installation Team led by Dillon Kingsbury first began by creating both of the extraction points in the basement slab. The team then connected the extraction points by using a PVC pipe and fed the PVC to the exterior of the home where we installed our radon fan. We linked the PVC pipe to the radon fan and vented the system above the roofline of the home so no radon can re-enter the home.
A few weeks after installation the home was tested for radon again and the results of the test were well under our 4.0 pCi/L goal.

Before Radon Extraction Points
Our Design Specialist Jared recommended installing two extraction points in the basement to collect the most amount of radon from beneath the home.

The second extraction point. The team linked the two extraction points and fed the PVC to the exterior of the home where it was attached to the radon fan.
Radon Fan Installed
The team installed the radon fan to the exterior of the home and attached the PVC pipe to it. Now the system will collect radon-filled air from beneath the home and push it out into the open air above the home where it can dissipate.
