Photo Album: Sloping and Separating Floors, Revere, MA

A homeowner in Revere, Massachusetts, had seen the floors on their main level begin to slope and separate. They had gotten more and more concerned over the 4 years they had noticed the issue. They finally decided to have a structural engineer look at their basement and they recommended installing supplemental beams to bridge the space between the main beams. The homeowner took the advice of the engineer and called EFS who installs this type of product. Our Design Specialist Kenny met with the homeowner to inspect the basement and recommended installing supplemental beams along with replacing the supports in the basement with our SmartJack supports. Kenny recommended installing 8 SmartJacks and 50 feet of supplemental beam into the basement to repair the floor system.  Our installation team began by setting up temporary posts in the basement so we could remove the old supports. After the temp posts were installed and the old posts were removed the team then began marking where each of the SmartJacks will be installed. Once marked, the team then chipped out a small section of concrete where we could install our footing under the slab. Then we would install our support and cut it to the correct size where our adjustable bracket and supplemental beam can be installed right below the floor system. After the support was cut to the correct size the team made sure the top bracket and supplemental beam fit and then they adjusted the top bracket so we could start lifting up on the floor system. The team lifted up on the floors and were able to eliminate the sloping of the floors and closed the gaps where they had separated. Lastly, the team poured concrete over the footing of the SmartJacks to lock them in place.
