Photo Album: Wall Being Pushed Inward Making Crack Larger, Weare, NH
A homeowner in Weare, New Hampshire, recently had a patio installed behind their attached garage. The homeowners noticed a crack in the garage getting larger after the patio was finished. The company that installed the patio used a compactor and the homeowner thinks the dirt put pressure on the wall and made the crack bigger. The homeowner called EFS for a free inspection of the foundation wall and our Design Specialist recommended installing 4 PowerBraces into the garage to add strength to the wall. Before starting the project the homeowner needed to remove any obstructions from the wall and about 18 inches of drywall from the ceiling.
Our installation team began by marking where each of the 4 PowerBraces will be installed. After the locations were finalized the team then began installing L Brackets to the floor just a few inches from the base of the wall. Next, the team installed the galvanized beam against the foundation wall and then began installing the adjustable top bracket. The top bracket was installed between the existing floorboards and used leverage from the floor system to prevent any further bowing of the wall and can straighten the wall over time.
