A homeowner in Methuen, Massachusetts, has a finished basement that their kids seldom use and they would like to change that. The homeowners would like to make a playroom in the basement that has some natural light that comes into the basement. The homeowner called EFS to have one of our Design Specialists find out what we could do to accomplish their goals. Our Specialist Victor walked through the basement with the homeowner and recommended installing a RockWell and a new bigger window to allow more sunlight to enter the basement, while also allowing an additional exit from the basement.
Our installation team began by removing dirt from the foundation wall so we could install our Rockwell and our new full-sized window. To install the window, the team first had to cut out a section of concrete from the foundation wall. The team then framed the window and installed it. Then the team began installing the Rockwell. They made sure the Rockwell was level and flush with the foundation. Once the team made sure that the Rockwell was leveled they began backfilling dirt behind it to keep it in place and then poured some crushed stone to the bottom of the Rockwell. Lastly, the team set up the window well to the top of the Rockwell. The window well will prevent water, snow, and any debris from settling at the bottom of the Rockwell.
