Photo Album: Concrete Step and Walkway Repair, Gardner, MA
Stepping out of their front door, this homeowner in Gardner, MA was concerned with their concrete step being too low and uneven. The step was a solid concrete pad that also stepped down onto the walkway in front of the home. The concrete step and walkway were in good condition on the surface, having no large cracks or blemishes. However, they were uneven and sunken, and had become a trip hazard for the family and their guests.
Our specialist, Kenny Calabrese, knew the homeowner wished to avoid demolishing the existing concrete to replace it with something completely new. Kenny designed a repair using our PolyLevel polymer foam system, which would lift and level the steps and the walkway, and would not require any removal of existing concrete.
Installing and injection of the polymer foam took just half a day, and cured within minutes. The homeowner was able to use their walkway and step entrance immediately, and the area was not disrupted with any digging or chiseling.
The concrete expansion joints were also sealed with a very clean and effective silicone-based product called NexusPro, which would prevent water from easily flowing underneath the concrete. After installation, the front step was level and raised up to a safe height. The concrete walkway was also leveled and stabilized, and the homeowner was very pleased with the results.
Lifting the Concrete Step
Our team used slab jacks to temporarily lift the concrete slab to the desired position. This enlarged the existing void beneath the slab, which was then filled with PolyLevel polymer foam. The disruption to the surface of the concrete is minimal.
