Photo Album: Concerned with Floors Sagging, Methuen, MA

A homeowner in Methuen, Massachusetts, had seen their floors sagging more over the past 2 years of living in their 1940s home. The homeowners were planning on remodeling some of the home. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection and a permanent solution. Our Design Specialist Liam inspected the home and recommended installing 13 SmartJacks to the floor system from the basement to strengthen the floors.  Our Installation Team began by creating footings under the slab in the basement. The team first chipped out small sections of concrete and then removed some dirt so they could make a strong footing to rest the SmartJacks on. The team used a combination of rebar, engineered fill, and concrete to create a solid footing. The team waited until the footings were cured before installing the SmartJacks over the footings and to the floor system above. Once attached to the floor system then used the adjustable top bracket to lift the floor system until it was level and the sag of the floor was eliminated. After all the SmartJacks were installed the team then mixed up concrete and used the concrete to cast the footings of the SmartJacks in concrete. This will prevent any tripping hazards and lock the SmartJacks into place.  The homeowners were very happy with the work that EFS did in their home. The sag in the floors was gone and the floors were strengthened.
