Photo Album: Beach Front Home Needs New Supports in Basement, Hampton, NH
A homeowner of a beachfront property in Hampton, New Hampshire, has lived in their home for over a year and has noticed a sag in the main level of the home. The homeowners wanted to find a solution to their problem so they reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions. Our Design Specialist Jason inspected the basement and found that the main beams in the basement have sagged around a 1/2". Jason recommended installing 4 SmartJacks into the basement under the two sagging beams to eliminate the sag in the beam.
Our installation team began by setting up temporary posts in the basement so they could remove the old lally columns. Once removed the team began installing 4 footings into the basement slab. The footings will be constructed of rebar and concrete to create a strong base for each SmartJack. Once all four of the footings were installed and cured the team then began setting up the SmartJacks over the footings. The team first laid our square footing over the new concrete footing and then installed the four SmartJacks to the two main beams in the basement. Once set up the team then used the adjustable top of the SmartJacks to lift and level the floor system above. After the team eliminated the sag in the main beams they then poured concrete over the SmartJack footings to lock them in place.
