Photo Album: Garage Foundation Shifting and Cracking, Dunbarton, NH
A homeowner in Dunbarton, New Hampshire, has lived in their home for 30+ years. When they purchased the property they had noticed some settling of the foundation of the attached garage. After living in the home for 30+ years, the homeowners have noticed the settling of the garage get worse and now have created cracks in the foundation. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Victor examined the garage foundation and recommended replacing the settled and cracked section of the foundation and replacing it with a new Masonry foundation wall.
Our production team began by excavating around the settled portion of the garage foundation. Once excavated to the old footing the team then added temporary supports and removed the old cracked foundation wall. Once fully removed, the team then poured a new footing. Once fully cured the team began stacking masonry blocks on top of the newly poured footing. The team laid blocks until they reached the bottom of the garage structure. After the wall is fully built, the team backfills dirt up to the wall and compressed the soil down to make sure it won't wash away.
