Photo Album: Slab Pour in Condominium Basement, Salem, MA
An owner of a condominium in Salem, Massachusetts, had high radon levels in the basement of their condo. They wanted to have the radon addressed in their basement and to have a new concrete floor poured. The owners called EFS for a free inspection of the basement. Our Design Specialist John recommended installing a radon mitigation system in one corner of the basement and then installing a concrete floor complete with drainage.
Our production team first created an extraction point for our radon mitigation system, then attached a PVC pipe to it and fed the pipe to the exterior of the building where installed the radon fan and vented it above the roofline. Next, the team installed WaterGuard and Drainage Matting on the floor of the basement. This will prevent water from pooling under the concrete slab. Then the team had a concrete truck deliver the concrete and the team then poured the concrete into the basement and the team moved it around and smoothed it to create the floor.
