Photo Album: Floor Sloping in Early 1900s Home, Marblehead, MA
A homeowner in Marblehead, Massachusetts, had purchased their home about a year ago. As soon as they moved into the home they noticed the floors on the main floor were sloping. Since they noticed the sloping floors the problem has increased to showing interior cracks around the house. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Kenny recommended installing SmartJacks into the basement to add support to the main level of the home and level the floors.
Our production team began by removing small sections of the wooden floor where each of our SmartJack footings will be installed. Under the wood was concrete which the team had to chip out. The team removed the concrete and removed dirt so our footing could fit flush under the concrete. After each hole could fit our footing the team then started fitting the SmartJacks into the footings. Once the SJs and the footings were together the team then propped up our Supplemental beams against the floor joists using some manpower and some cord so the team could attach the SmartJacks to the Supplemental beam. The team attached our adjustable bracket to the SmartJacks and the Supplemental beam by using GRK screws. Once everything was secured the team then used the adjustable bracket to start lifting up the floor above until it was level. After the floor was leveled the team mixed and poured concrete over the footings of the new support to lock them in place and eliminate any tripping hazards.
