Photo Album: Sinking and Sloping Floors on Heirloom Home, Concord, NH

A homeowner in Concord, New Hampshire, grew up in this home that their great great grandfather had built. The home has become a family heirloom and the homeowner would like to preserve it for future generations. When the homeowner was growing up in the home, approximately 40 years ago, they noticed the floor was sinking and sloping. The homeowner believes the floors have gotten slightly worse since 40 years ago. So they decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their floor system, and our Design Specialist Liam recommended installing SmartJacks, SmartJacks XTs, and Supplemental beams in the basement. Our production team began by marking where each of the 26 supports will be installed. Once all of the locations for the new supports were marked the team began removing dirt from the dirt floor basement so they could pour concrete bases for the regular SmartJacks to rest on.  Once the concrete was cured the team installed the regular SmartJacks over the concrete and attached our adjustable bracket to the supplemental beam to support the floor system above. For the SmartJack XTs, the team just removed some dirt and poured some engineered fill into the hole, and installed our big plate footings over it. The team then installed the support to the big plates and then to the beam above. The XTs were installed in the main area of the basement and supplemental beams were alternated with every other load-bearing beam. Once all of the supports were installed the team used the adjustable brackets to lift and level the floors back to their original place. Once everything was pressurized the team covered the support with concrete to lock them in place.
