Photo Album: Replacing Sump in Basement to Begin Using Space for a Gym, Andover, MA
A homeowner in Andover, Massachusetts, recently purchased their home in June 2022. The home was built in the 1880s and the homeowner had a home inspector look through the home after the purchase. The inspector mentioned some items that should be on the homeowner's radar to repair or upgrade. The homeowner wanted to make part of the basement into a workout area so they felt the basement was a good place to start. One of the items on that list was to upgrade the old sump pump in the basement to prevent water from coming into the basement. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our Design Specialist Kenny recommended installing a TripleSafe and IceGuard in the basement to prevent any water from entering the basement.
Our production team first began by removing the old sump pump from under the staircase in the basement. Once the old pump was removed the team used the existing hole where the old sump pump was to install the new TripleSafe. To install the sump pump the team needed to slightly deepen and expand the hole where the old sump was installed. The team inserted and plumbed the new TripleSafe into the basement. The team plumbed the drainage line through some wooden shelves to get to the sill and extend the exterior drainage line 10' away from the home. The team buried the drainage line about a foot under the dirt to conceal it. Once everything was installed the team used a little bit of concrete around the basin of the SuperSump to create a smooth edge around the sump pump.

IceGuard and Drainage Line Installed
We installed an IceGuard to prevent water from backing up into the basement and a drainage line to send the water that was collected in the sump pump away from the foundation of the home.
