Photo Album: Crack in Foundation Making Home Difficult to Sell, Nashua, NH
A homeowner in Nashua, New Hampshire was in the process of selling their home. The home had been on the market for a while and they found that some cracks in their foundation has resulted in a sticking point for the sale of the home. After a few potential buyers stressed concern with the cracks in the back of the attached garage, the homeowner decided they needed to have the cracks on the foundation repaired. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection, and our design specialist found that the root cause of the cracks was that the walls were bowing. Our design specialist recommended installing Geolocks and Crack Injection to the foundation wall.
Our production team led by our Crew Lead Neal, began by prepping to install the Geolocks to the foundation wall. The first step was to create a trench inside the garage to mount one side of our Geolocks to. The team of Neal, Justin, and Ashley used a jackhammer to create a trench nearly the width of the garage which was long enough to hold 4 Geolocks inside. The team removed the concrete and dug down a couple of feet to ensure that the Geolock Plates will fit in the trench. Once the trench was set up the team then drilled small holes in the outside foundation behind the garage. Using those small holes the team sent a rod from the exterior of the home into the trench inside the garage. Once all 4 rods were sent into the garage the team attached Geolock Plates to either side of the rod and used an impact gun to tighten the rods. The rods were tightened until the wall was stabilized. After the wall was stabilized, the team then proceeded to use crack injection to seal the cracks in the foundation wall.
Foundation Cracks
The homeowners had placed the home on the market and it wasn't selling because of the cracking in the founding.
Geolock Trench
They installed the Geolocks into the trench and used the soil between the foundation wall to aid in stabilizing the wall.
Geolocks and Crack Injection Installed
The team installed 4 Geolocks onto the foundation wall to stabilize it. After the wall was stabilized the team installed Crack Injection into each of the cracks to seal them.
Trench Backfilled and Covered
The team backfilled the trench and poured new concrete over the trench to conceal the Geolocks.
