Photo Album: Homeowner Fearful of Radon In Basement, Haverhill, MA

A homeowner in Haverhill, Massachusetts, had lived in their home for four years and refuse to use their basement for any extended time. The half-finished basement had radon levels of 4 pCi/L and the homeowner wanted the levels reduced if possible. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our design specialist recommended installing a radon mitigation system and a SaniDry dehumidifier in the basement. During our specialist inspection, they not only noticed the radon levels being a little high but they also found that the relative humidity was around 65%.  Our production team began by creating an extraction point in the slab to collect radon air from beneath the home. After the extraction point was made the team attached PVC pipe to it and directed the pipe to the exterior of the home. The PVC pipe is lead to the exterior of the home and the team attached the radon fan to the PVC pipe to draw radon-filled air out from beneath the home and push it out from under the home. After the team installed the radon fan they vented the radon system above the roofline of the home. After the radon system was fully installed, the team then installed the SaniDry to reduce the relative humidity in the basement.
