Photo Album: Radon Mitigation and Basement Water Proofing, Londonderry, NH
A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, was concerned about water and radon being in their basement. The basement had an active crack in the foundation wall and have had to clean up water whenever it entered the basement. The homeowners have lived in their home for the past 20+ years and have had water and radon concerns in their home since they moved in. The homeowners have gotten tired of cleaning up water and worrying about radon in their basement. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection, and our design specialist recommended installing Flexispan, UltraSump with IceGuard XL, and a radon mitigation system in the basement.
Our production team began by sealing the active crack in the foundation wall. The team covered the crack with a membrane or Flexispan that will prevent water from escaping the crack and entering the basement. The membrane was set and sealed over the crack and the team chipped out a small area of concrete to drain the water that collected in the Flexispan from the crack. Next, the team chipped out another section of concrete in the basement. This time the concrete was removed to install the UltraSump basin into the basement. Once the concrete was chipped out the team dug down until the UltraSump basin fit into the hole. After the sump was placed in the hole, the team began to run the plumbing toward the outside of the home. The team used a drill to make a small hole the size of the plumbing in the siding of the home. The team fed the pipe through the wall and attached IceGuard XL to the exterior of the home, then used a drainage line to dispose of the water collected in the basement. After the Sump pump was installed, the team move on to installing the radon mitigation system. The team first created an extraction point in the slab of the basement. The team used a drill to make the hole for the extraction point. After the team made the extraction point the team started to use PVC piping to collect the radon gas. The team directed the PVC piping to the location where the radon fan will be installed. The team installed the radon fan and connected the PVC piping to the fan and vented the system above the roofline of the home to make sure no radon can re-enter the home.

UltraSump Installation
The team installed the UltraSump into the basement and plumbed it to the exterior of the home where it is connected to the IceGuard XL and the drainage line.
FlexiSpan Installed
The team installed the FlexiSpan to prevent the water from coming into the basement from the crack.
Radon Mitigation System
The team installed the extraction point in the basement and connected it with the radon fan to pull radon air from under the home and push it out.
