Photo Album: Wooden Supports To Be Replaced By SmartJacks, Somerville, MA
An owner of a condo in Somerville, Massachusetts, had wooden supports in the basement that wasn't to code. The owner also found that the floors in the levels above the basement were sloping. The owner called EFS and our design specialist recommended replacing the wooden supports with SmartJacks.
Our production team began by setting up temporary posts in the basement so they could safely remove the wooden supports. After the temp posts were installed the team started removing the wooden supports. When the last wood support was removed the team began chipping out concrete to install the footings for the SmartJacks. The team installed 7 SmartJacks under the main support beam and 7 more SJ's under a supplemental beam to add support to additional areas in the basement. Once all the new supports were installed the team double-checked that all the SmartJacks were level and then they poured concrete over the footing to lock them in place and to eliminate any tripping hazard.
