Photo Album: Sloping and Sagging Floors in Fixer-upper, Manchester, NH
A homeowner in Manchester, New Hampshire, purchased a home in 2020. The home had a fire on its top floor and the homeowner had planned to repair it to become a rental income property. The homeowner was a contractor so most of the work was going to be done themselves. When they noticed the floors of the home were sloping and sagging, they reached out to the experts. Our design specialist recommended replacing the old supports in the basement with new lally columns.
Our team installed 6 lally columns into the basement to strengthen the main beam. To install the lally columns the team chipped out concrete until they reach dirt, then they poured a concrete base for the lally. Once the base is cured, the team set the lally column on the base and connected it to the main beam. After all of the lally columns are secured, they poured concrete over the bottom to lock it in place.
