Photo Album: SmartJacks Installation, North Andover, MA
This homeowner in North Andover, Massachusetts had settlement issues when he purchased the home in 1996. When they first moved in the homeowners installed wooden supports under their kitchen because that is where most of the settlement was occurring. Over 25 years later the same issue is happening in the same spot. The homeowners had just renovated their kitchen. They had just added a big island and some new tile floors. They knew that this was going to add more weight above those wooden supports. This time the homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection.
Design Specialist Chris Greenwood inspected the wooden supports that the homeowner had installed 25 years ago. Chris noticed that more than one of the wooden supports are bowing. Chris recommended installing SmartJacks where the wooden supports are.
Crew Lead Nick Carelli and his team arrived at the home and began installing the SmartJacks into the basement.
Old Wooden Supports
These wooden supports were installed when the homeowner purchased the home back in 1996.
SmartJack Footing
The team chipped out some concrete to install the SmartJack footing under the concrete to ensure that it will not move.
SmartJack Supplemental Beam and Vertical Supports
The team connects the vertical supports to the footings and the supplemental beam. The team raises the beam to take on the weight of the home above.
Concrete is Poured
The team makes sure everything is level, then they pour the concrete and lock everything into place.
