This homeowner in Weare, New Hampshire lives in a home that was built in 1835 and wanted to bolster their floor supports in their basement. They had no big sagging issues yet but the floors were supported by 4x4 2x10 and other miscellaneous pieces of wood. They are planning to install stone countertops on the floor above and they wanted to be certain that the supports could take the load.
They got in contact with Erickson Foundation Supportworks to take a look at the supports in the basement. Design Specialist Paul Magowan inspected the integrity of the existing supports and determined it would be best to reinforcements to improve the overall stability. SmartJacks are adjustable support posts that can reverse the effects of sagging floors. Crew lead Jon Provost and his team installed the SmartJacks and successfully added more stability to the floor above.
In the photo gallery, the photos will show what the supports looked like before SmartJacks and what they looked like after installation.
Overall the homeowners were happy and at-ease that their floor would now be able to take the weight of stone countertops if they choose to install them.
