The owner of this home in Merrimac, MA reached out to Erickson to help come up with a solution to their foundation settlement issue. The main foundation had settled and was causing uneven floors. However, it was difficult to access the foundation on this side of the home since there was an enclosed porch added to the home. The homeowner was wanting to replace the floor in this porch space, so the time to fix the foundation was now. Our solution helped save the homeowner thousands of dollars by avoiding having to remove the entire porch or do extensive excavation.

Accessing the Foundation

The homeowner cut out two feet of the porch floor, allowing for access to the foundation.

Foundation Footings

Where the porch met the main house, the foundation and footings were facing settlement concerns. The soil was gradually sinking lower and effecting the stability of the house.

Installing Helical Piers

Due to the tough access, the crew had to install the piers by hand, since excavation was not possible.

Preparing for Concrete

The system was designed with rebar and steel. Once concrete is poured over the piers and steel to create a continuous footing, the entire system will be tied together and very stable.
