Camp Wanakee is a youth camp in Meredith, NH. They had this bunk house built just 5 years ago, half way up a large hill on their property. As water came down the hill, it moved the soils and added extreme pressure to the foundation walls of the bunk house. Eventually, the walls cracked and began to shift inwards, becoming a dangerous situation for the camp. Erickson Foundation Supportworks permanently stabilized the bowing walls with GeoLocks, and also added perimeter drainage to divert the water away from the bunk house. Job was completed by Matthew Erickson Sr., Nathan Erickson, and Scott Crandall.

GeoLock Exterior Anchors

View of the anchors on the exterior. Long steel rods connect these to anchors on the inside of the foundation walls, permanently stabilizing them against any further movement.

Exterior Foundation Wall Exposed

The soils on the exterior of the wall were removed to allow for the GeoLock system to straighten the leaning foundation walls. This also allowed for drainage to be installed so that water would no longer collect and add pressure to the foundation walls.

Water was rushing down the hill and straight into the bunk house foundation walls. a perimeter drain was added to divert the water away from the structure.
