Photo Album: Leaning Foundation on Slope, Melrose, MA

This home in Melrose, MA is on a sloped lot, with large portions of the foundation being above ground. There were 4 visible cracks and one substantial crack at the back of the foundation. The previous homeowners had installed a sump pump, so water within the soils has appeared to be shifting and causing damage to the foundation. After one year of owning the home, the new owners decided to fix the problem before it got any worse, as the gap was something they recently discovered. The solution used in this album for this issue, GeoLocks to stabilize the walls and keep them from bowing out any further. This required having to attach anchors in the soils beneath the slab in the basement of the home.

The anchors for the GeoLocks were installed beneath the slab in the lower level of the home. Afterwards, new concrete was added to patch where the anchors were added.
