Severe Cracking All Over the Foundation, Nashua, NH
Challenge
Elizabeth C. of Nashua, New Hampshire was experiencing severe cracking all over the foundation of her home. The home was built in 1997 and Elizabeth has been the home's only owner. Over the past 24 years of living in their home, they started noticing little changes in the foundation, cracks started to appear and get larger over time. Elizabeth and her husband are planning on moving to Florida to retire. They want to fix the home correctly and sell the home after the repairs are done. Elizabeth decided to call Erickson Foundation Solutions about a free inspection.
Design Specialist Michael LaMalfa arrived at Elizabeth's home and inspected the foundation of the home. Michael found that the home had telltale signs that the foundation was moving. Michael measured the amount of settlement around the home and found that the back of the home has settled around 3". Michael recommends that Elizabeth have EFS install: 150 ft of Nexus Pro Crack Repair, 1 area of PolyLevel, 23 3" Push Piers, 9 Geolock Wall Anchors and 4 3" Helical Piers to secure the foundation of her home.
The challenge of this project is that there isn't just one pinpointed spot where the damage is. Most of the foundation of the home is affected and needs to be repaired. This is going to be one of the biggest jobs EFS has done in the past couple of years.
Solution
Scott Crandall and his team are the first crew to arrive at Elizabeth's home in Nashua, New Hampshire. They first began by chipping out the concrete from the garage floor to create a trench. In this trench, they can install 4 of the 9 Geolocks into. After the Geolock in the garage were installed, the team began installing 5 more Geolocks to the right of the garage. These 5 Geolocks are set through the foundation and are anchored in the front yard. Next, an additional crew arrived and started helping Scott's crew install 23 Push Piers to the inside wall of the entire basement. The crew that arrived to help Scott was Nick Carelli's team. The two teams split up and installed all 23 Push Piers in only a couple of days. The bulk of the work was now done. Scott's team left to start another job and Nick's team was left to install the 4 Helical Piers to the back of the home and fill in the chipped concrete with newly poured concrete. The last crew to arrive was the PolyLevel team led by Nick Melo. Crew Lead Nick Melo and Installation Specialist Tyler Oslizlo arrived at the home and injected PolyLevel into the concrete floor to level out one section of concrete in the basement.
When the project, which had lasted 21 days, had finished Elizabeth was delighted that the project was completed.
